Testimonials

"The people are so friendly here. They have a great fireplace you can sit by while eating the delicious meals that they serve. Or you can have a drink and talk with the members, watch TV or even play some video games...."

Trap League

The North Bristol Sportsman’s Club was organized in 1971 as a trap shooting club. In 1973, the organization moved to the present location, for more room and better safety control. We have 4 trap fields with 1 combination trap and skeet field. With technology constantly changing, we have the newest trap throwing machines along with voice activated controls.

Trapshooting is a specific form of clay target shooting. It is a game of concentration, movement, action, and timing that requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire, and break a clay target. In trap, there are 5 stations from which you shoot at 5 clay targets, for a total of 25 birds in a round. The trap field stations are graduated, such that you can shoot from the 16-yard line all the way back to the 27-yard line. If you’re really brave, you can shoot doubles, which are 2 birds coming out of the trap house at the same time.

Trapshooting has been a growing sport over the years, and especially at the North Bristol Sportsman’s Club. It can be enjoyed by people of all ages from 10 to 90, members and non-members, male or female. You can start shooting at any age, young or old. We encourage youth shooters.

Our club holds different trap shooting events annually, both on individual scoring and team scoring events. Please check our monthly calendar for those events.

North Bristol Sportsman’s Club has different Trap Leagues:
  • Winter/Spring league on Monday evenings
  • Summer leagues, both Monday and Wednesday evenings
  • Fall league, on Wednesday evenings

A league team consists of 5 regular shooters and at least 1 or 2 subs. You shoot 50 birds, 25-16 yard and 25-Handicap targets during a league night. A league team is usually made up of a group of friends or co-workers. In a league setting, your team scores are tracked, printed and posted at the club. League shooting is a fun, competitive event, and we encourage youth teams to take part in all leagues.

Trap Events:
May – 50 Bird Individual Trap Shoot
June – 100 Bird Individual Trap Shoot
July – ATA REGISTERED BUCKLE SHOOT – TRAP
Sept 23rd – 100 Bird Team Shoot – Trap
Fall/Winter – Quad County Chain shoots
